BADGES Loyalty Program: How Graphene-X Tiers Work

BADGES is the Graphene-X loyalty program. It places every customer in one of four tiers (Tier 3, Tier 2, Tier 1 and Angel Backer), and each tier carries a lifetime discount at graphene-x.com from 8% to 24%. Tiers are earned through lifetime spend on graphene-x.com. From October 27, 2026, your tier is recalculated every time an order is paid, instead of twice a year.

BADGES in brief:

• Four tiers: Tier 3, Tier 2, Tier 1, Angel Backer.
• Lifetime discount at graphene-x.com: 8% at Tier 3, 16% at Tier 2, 24% at Tier 1 and for Angel Backers.
• One route up: lifetime spend at graphene-x.com, starting at US$1,000.
• Upgrades apply after every paid order. A confirmation email follows.
• Tiers do not expire. No points, no annual requalification.
• Tiers already earned through Kickstarter backing are kept for life.

What changed in the new BADGES program

The previous program updated tiers by hand, twice a year. An order placed in March could wait months before it moved anyone up. From October 27, 2026, that delay is gone.

• Real-time upgrades. Each paid order triggers a recalculation of your lifetime spend. If the order crosses a threshold, the new tier is written to your account and confirmed by email.
• One route forward. Tier progression now runs on graphene-x.com orders only. Backing a Kickstarter campaign no longer moves a tier.
• Earned tiers stay. Anyone who reached a tier by backing past campaigns keeps it for life.
• A new route to Angel Backer. Angel status was closed to anyone outside the earliest backers. It is now open to anyone who reaches US$10,000 in lifetime spend.

The four BADGES tiers

Below US$1,000 in lifetime spend, you are not yet in a tier. Your first US$1,000 at graphene-x.com places you in Tier 3.

How tier upgrades work

Lifetime spend is the total of your paid orders at graphene-x.com, net of refunds. Every paid order adds to it, and every order is checked against the next threshold the moment it is paid.

1. Your order is paid.
2. Lifetime spend is recalculated against the tier thresholds.
3. If a threshold is crossed, your account moves to the new tier and an email confirms it.
4. The new discount applies from your next order.

Example: you have spent US$1,700 at graphene-x.com, which places you in Tier 3. An order of US$300 or more takes you to Tier 2 the moment it is paid, and 16% applies from your next order.

Tiers reached by backing Graphene-X campaigns stay yours. From here, your next upgrade comes when your lifetime spend at graphene-x.com crosses the next threshold in the table.

Angel Backers: two routes, one status

The Angel Backer tier was created for the people who backed Graphene-X before there was a company to back. The original definition still holds: anyone who backed at least two Graphene-X campaigns before Hoodie-X keeps Angel status for life.

The new program opens a second route. Reach US$10,000 in lifetime spend at graphene-x.com and you become an Angel Backer with the same benefits as the original group. Both routes lead to the same badge.

Angel Backers share the 24% lifetime discount with Tier 1. What sets them apart is access: they see every launch first and receive prototypes before release.

Benefits by tier

• Lifetime discount. 8% at Tier 3, 16% at Tier 2 and 24% at Tier 1 and for Angel Backers, on orders at graphene-x.com.
• Earlier access to limited runs. Launches and pre-orders open in waves by tier. Angel Backers go first, the remaining tiers follow in order, then the open list. On some pre-orders the earlier wave also carries a deeper price.
• Prototypes for Angel Backers. Angel Backers receive prototypes before release.
• No expiry. A tier, once earned, stays. There are no points to track and no yearly spend to maintain.

Why BADGES exists

Graphene-X started on Kickstarter. The first campaign, the Alpha Series Jacket, raised more than ten times its funding goal with nearly two thousand backers in more than 80 countries. Choosing Kickstarter over outside investors kept product decisions with the people who would wear the product. It also meant backers carried the early risk.

That record has grown to 14 successful campaigns with zero failures, more than US$3M raised and more than 30,000 backers in over 100 countries. Products are built on specific material systems: graphene-integrated fibers, aerogel insulation and boron nitride cooling, documented on the Our Tech page. Backer feedback shapes each new version.

BADGES started as a way to recognize those first backers, with a lifetime discount that grew with each campaign backed. When Hoodie-X, the fourth campaign, closed with almost three thousand backers, the original backers were asked whether the program should open to newer customers. 90% agreed, on one condition: the first backers should be recognized for being first. The Angel Backer tier was the answer.

The program has since moved to graphene-x.com spend, where every order can now move a tier the day it is paid. The lifetime principle stays, and it matches how the gear is built: to last, backed by a Lifetime Guarantee. More on that in The Repair Standard.

How to check your tier

Your tier is confirmed in the email sent when you join a tier or move up. For anything that looks wrong, write to support@graphene-x.com from the email address you use for your orders.
